By dawn we were still rolling but the seas had settled a little and we enjoyed a good breakfast. Meals (when it's not too rough) taste their best at sea! We had Cabo Tres Puntas in sight, it stopped raining, the seas went flat and a pod of 6 dolphins came to say good morning! The feeling of fatigue from the previous night faded away as we watched them ride Kilifi's bow wave for over half an hour. What an honour!
In the distance to the North, we could see the outer cays of Belize and in front of us the panorama of the Guatemalan mountains welcomed us. We crossed the Ox Tongue Shoal and could see Livingston in the distance. To get to the town, a shallow sand bar (formed because it is the mouth of the Rio Dulce) has to be crossed. High tide was approaching and we crossed with 7" under us.
Once we had anchored, we were greeted by 5 friendly officials, (4 of whom squeezed into Kilifi's small cockpit) to check our papers, and check us in. It was efficient, simple and friendly! A great start to a new country!
