The Rio Dulce then becomes a large lake called 'El Gofete' meaning The Little Gulf. There are many bays to explore and beautiful secluded anchorages. We stopped in Gringo Bay, the third bay on the left as you go up river. Small thatched roof houses litter the shore and it is very very peaceful. The native birds come and pay Kilifi a visit and the local children paddle nearby in their cuacoys, waving at us and giggling as they splash each other.
