We have found a great place to leave Kilifi. Monkey Bay Marina has made us feel very welcome and we are busy getting the boat ready to lock up and leave for our trip inland to Antigua.
So we are busy doing our chores of cleaning, laundry, awning repairs and mildew patrol as well as packing for our trip to the UK which we have decided to bring forward two weeks!
Monkey Bay is just gorgeous. As I type this the hummingbirds are busy feeding on the bright cerise flowers (that my Mum would know the name of), the howler monkeys have already been heard howling this morning in the jungle behind us (they have a very eerie howl, kind of a mixture of dogs howling and pigs being castrated!), and we are forever on manatee watch (none seen yet). The marina is small but very friendly and the two resident doggies are so sweet, they remind me of our two Cayman dogs who are no doubt curled up in front of the fire back home in Yorkshire.
Here at the marina we have had Spanish lessons and Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez watch out, Claire and Peter Hughes have begun to learn the tango! Never thought I would learn to dance properly in Guatemala!
