It’s been a week David Attenborough would be proud of: Last week before my arrival back in the Rio Dulce Peter saw a group (pod, herd, flock?) of around 12 manatees being guided down the river by a flotilla of boats protecting them from other boat traffic. He saw a turtle with pyjamas on (his description of its green and yellow striped legs!) and 2 otters frolicking about.
This week the howler monkeys came to pay us a visit and we saw them (instead of just hearing their howls) for the first time. A small (3ft!!) thin green headed snake came to pay me a visit whilst I was sat in the palapa typing away to friends in Honduras (it made for a interesting conversation; "sssnnaaaaaaaaake" as I stood on the stool typing away!!) and then today the birds where making more of a noise then usual and we looked up into the tree and there on a branch is a 4-5ft boa! So we have now added to our limited Spanish vocabulary the word for both snake and poisonous!
It is the jungle you know!
We are making plans to head across the border into Honduras shortly to meet up with friends and then we will get a flight into Cayman around mid June. More news soon!
